Recently, we have travelled to Rome, Venice, Tuscany and Umbria to take a careful look at 2, 3 and 4 star, independently owned hotels. We inspected dozens of establishments, many of which provide perfectly adequate accommodations, and from them we have chosen and listed just one or two really lovely places to stay in each place: to say that we have been choosy is to understate the situation! Our criterion was to find accommodations which will contribute in their own right to the pleasure of your visit in terms of comfort, charm and tradition, as well as being located conveniently for the sights and, in the case of city hotels, for easy transfer from the airports. We charge a modest fee for our booking service which is included in our tariffs but, because of negotiated rates, most are equal to or slightly less than the normal 'rack' rate, which is charged direct by the hotels to the general public. Prices shown and payments are in GB sterling and are per bedroom/suite, not per person, and include breakfast and local taxes. Most hotels will accept a minimum stay of 2 nights in peak season or during festivals.
