Details:
Continental breakfast, which is included in the basic tariff, is served in the main house dining area. Other meals can be found at local restaurants, the nearest being just 30 seconds' walk from the Manoir. There are 3 restaurants, 2 cafes, a bakery and a small shop located in the village. There are plenty of activities to do in this part of France - all the usual outdoor activities such as swimming, fishing, canoeing, tennis, cycling, walking and horse back riding. Throughout the year the traditional game of "boules" or "petanque" is a favorite past-time for the French and also enjoyed by visitors. There is a canoe base in Albas and canoeing trips can be arranged on both the rivers Dordogne and Lot. The River Lot itself is massive, stretching through to the Pyrenees. Last summer a 22kg carp was caught just outside of the house! The fish normally caught in the river include Roach, Black Bass, Barbel, Bream, Chub, Perch, Catfish, Pike and Carp, for which it is particularly popular. Local anglers tell us that the best time for Carp is April to June and September to mid October. There are a number of official and unofficial walks in the region. The best ones locally are arranged by The Walking Safari Company. The many quiet roads around the village and the varied terrain offer the cyclist both enjoyable and safe cycling for all ages. 5 bicycles available from your hosts. Horse riding is available from a number of places close to Albas. The Lot and Dordogne regions are also famous for their many caves. Children are welcomed but parents must take responsibility for them in relation to the hazards, even dangers presented by the river, pool and steep surfaces in the garden. Car parking free on street or in the village car park. Open all year except Christmas and the New Year. |
