La Farigoule
An 18th century 'mas de vigneron', lovingly restored by its owners and transformed into a charming, comfortable chambre d'hote. Surrounded by the vineyards of Violes, a less well known village in the Vaucluse region, in complete peace and overlooked by the gleeming teeth of the Dentelles de Montmirail, you couldn't pick a better spot from which to explore the Roman towns of the Rhone valley, Avignon, Orange and Vaison-la-Romaine, and to discover the great wines of Rhone, Vaucluse and Ventoux - Gigondas, Beaumes de Venise, Seguret etc closeby and Chateauneuf du Pape a little further afield.
Accommodations: All sleeping accommodation is at the top of the house on the 2nd floor (3rd if you are French or American) reached by a wide, not very steep staircase. The bedrooms are very well appointed and always with en-suite shower/toilet. They are quite charming in style and decor, named after Provencale authors and stocked with their books. You are constantly aware of your hosts' two passions - books and jazz. There is a guest's lounge library in the cool interior.

Breakfast is served in the vaulted dining room or in the garden. No evening meals are served in house but there are well priced, excellent restaurants in the surrounding villages, some within walking distance.

The farmstead is enclosed on two sides by the house itself and by high walls on the other two sides. Within its walls there is a pretty garden planted with trees and shrubs, where one can relax in the shade or roast under the provencale sun.

Guests are welcome to use the summer kitchen with rotisserie to prepare al fresco meals. There is also a ping pong table and various childrens' games. Bicycles can be hired in the village.
