Situated on the original Paris/Calais to London coaching route this inn was frequented by the former Kings of France and England. Famous and Eminent guests through the years include: Laurence Sterne in 1765 during the writing of his famous book "A Sentimental Journey": Victor Hugo in 1812 during the writing of "Les Miserables" - not surprisingly he based the inn featured in "Les Miserables" on the hotel and stayed in room 12b, overlooking the courtyard: Field Marshall General Douglas Haig in 1918, used the hotel as his operational headquarters in the Montreuil. More recently Gerard Depardieu has been a guest on more than one occasion. 70 minutes from Calais, 80 minutes from Dieppe, 40 minutes from Boulogne: beaches 15 minutes by car. |
| Accommodations:
The hotel offers 13 bedrooms of varying proportions either overlooking the courtyard or the road - prices vary according to size. The decor is truly French - quirky and charming but maybe a little eccentric: all rooms have their own bathroom or shower room and toilet. It has a late night licensed bar and salon in which you take your ease. |
