Not far from the beach at Le Tréport on top of a hill and very close to the old city of Eu, developed by the later kings of France around the Jesuit community of St Laurnece O'Toole, the patron saint of this city and of Dublin, lies this pretty manor house and hunting lodge, built in the 19th century on the original 12th century cellars. About 90 miles to the south of Calais and 20 minutes beyond Le Touquet, it is both a tranquil and beautiful country situation and a very easy place to reach for a short break at any time of the year. Queen Victoria is reputed to have rested here once.
The house is furnished with nice old country pieces and antiques and the accommodations, whilst being typically French, are comfortable and well served by modern facilities. The forest begins at the end of the garden and there are lovely views of the surrounding countryside. The WW1 Somme battlefield and the WW2 evacuation beaches of Dieppe are closeby.
There are 3 guest accommodations:
1. A suite with a double bedroom, a triple
bedroom, a shower room and small kitchen in the "dependance".
2. A double room with shower and toilet
in the "dependance".
3. A family room with a double bed
and single bed plus a shower room with toilet in the manoir.
You will find that your hosts who speak good English are kind and considerate in their hospitality and they have plenty of suggestions for sunny and wet day activities - country walks and cycle rides, historic visits etc.
Continental breakfast, served in the lovely old dining room and antique furniture is always included in the standard tariff. Dinner can be found at a good choice of restaurants in the vicinity, the nearest being in the royal town of Eu at 2 kilometres.
