Domaine de Borg-Ville

Loudun - Central Southern Loire
LO 01

Acquired by the secretary to King Louis XVI of France, this medieval fortress then later fortified farm has been handed down to its current owners. Beside the small village of Monts-sur-Guesnes to the south of Loudun and 29 kilometres from Chinon, 15 from Richelieu and 38 from Futuroscope and Poitiers.

Much improved and restored by its current owners, the accommodation is in the home farm and stables of the original chateau which is under slow repair, a huge garden that must have been extraordinary in its day is a project for next year.

The guesthrooms are in the old stable block, transformed to provide very comfortable accommodation, all with private showers. There are two guest rooms, one a double and the other a twin with two single beds. Each room has its own private shower or bath and toilet.

There are also two large self-catering gites, rather rustic in character but cheap to rent in a separate wing, one sleeping 4, the other 8, let on a weekly saturday to saturday basis.

Continental breakfast is included in the basic tariff. Your enthusiastic, English speaking hosts will entertain at the huge dinner table or on the terrace in summer and your hostess will serve you a good 3 course dinner (20 euros per head including wine and coffee) but only by arrangement in advance - ther are good restaurants also in the village.
