Overlooked by the mighty cliff-top castle and separated from the Dordogne by the narrow, river-bank road from Sarlat to Bergerac, the River Café offers a high standard of comfort in a simple, calssical style, very much in keeping with the great age of the building and its surroundings. |
| Accommodations:
The
3 AIR CONDITIONED bedrooms
all have en-suite shower or bath and toilet - the décor is elegant
but simple - lime washed oak floors, pastel colours and old beds with modern
mattresses:
1. A double bedroom with views of the river, pastures and hillside chateaux across the river. 2. A bedroom with two single beds with views of the river, pastures and hillside chateaux across the river. 3. A double bedroom tucked away to the rear of the bulding facing onto the café's terrace, a quieter situation than the other two rooms but without the lovely views. The house is close to the road and there is some traffic noise - this is to a great extent neutralised by the fact that windows can be kept closed because of the air-conditioning, the thick stone walls and by the elevated level of the bedrooms. The River Café is a popular and very successful restaurant, hence there is possible disturbance from its trade in the evening - however, last orders are taken at 9.30pm so all tends to become quiet after 11pm. |
