Chateau Millaud-Montlabert

St Emilion
AQ31

Accommodations here are in a typical 17th century Aquitaine farmhouse located among the grand cru vineyards just to the west of St Emilion on a wine producing estate. Within walking distance, you have the most celebrated chateaux of St Emilion, Chateau Cheval Blanc to the north and Chateau Figeac, which is only slightly less exalted, to the south - indeed, your hosts produce a Grand Cru of their own. The ornate hilltop town of St Emilion is a good walking distance and the most famous (and expensive) of all estates in Bordeaux, Petrus is just a short drive to the west in the commune of Pomerol.
Accommodations:

There are 5 well tended, central heated guest rooms - the style is old country with good furniture and traditional beds; 2 doubles (1 with limited head room on one side), 2 with twin single beds and a triple (double plus single beds), each with its own bathroom. The rooms have stone walls and wooden ceilings, are furnished with good country furniture and are close carpeted.

There is a small guest salon with TV, a kitchen and a dining area for those who prefer to eat in-house.

Guests are free to enjoy the terrace with views of the vineyards that stretch as far as the eye can see.

The breakfast table is a marvellous affair with miriad choices of confitures and breads usually served in the old didning room but which can be eaten on the terrace in good weather.

Dinner is not served in house but there is a fine Ferme Auberge restaurant within easy walking distance at 300 yards and a huge choice of good eateries can be found in St Emilion town.

Although your hostess does not speak good English, she always has a dictionary to hand and goes to great lengths to respond to guests' questions and needs with charm and good humour.

Guests are welcome to use the fridge, cooker and washing machine.

Open February to December.
